CLIENT: Los Angeles County Coroners Office
PROJECT: Historical Office Building Renovation
BUDGET: $440,422
PROJECT MANAGER: Frank Rodriguez
SCOPE: The scope of work for this project required that Torres Construction renovate the Communications and Data Center of the Los Angeles County Coroners Office. Torres Construction worked closely with the client’s historical consultant to closely adhere to the historical buildings’ art deco design, recreating detailed molding and woodwork, installing era-appropriate exterior lighting, window treatments and signage. Torres constructed numerous partition walls and rolled approximately 20,000 square feet of paint throughout 45 offices. A small kitchen was built, and at the entrance, a new reception booth was constructed that required intricate matching millwork. Closed caption television (CCTV) was installed throughout the building, along with a new fire alarm system. Three compressors were replaced and the HVAC system was reprogrammed. To complete this job order, Torres utilized numerous trades simultaneously, including electrical, finish carpentry, painting, framing, plumbing, fire alarm and safety.
SUMMARY: The initial portion of this project was performed without office occupants present, yet the secondary portion required that we work while the office was open and operational, which meant daily covering of work areas, waiting until after hours to shut-off power, and being mindful to create a safe and quiet work environment for the office employees.
