Eagle Rock Elementary, LAUSD

PROJECT:
Energy Efficient Lighting Upgrade

BUDGET:
$85,362

PROJECT MANAGER:
Robert Mooneyhan

SCOPE:
The scope of this project was a lighting upgrade that was performed in the school’s administrative offices, classrooms, hallways, library, and multi-purpose room. The project required that Torres Construction remove all of the school’s old and outmoded incandescent lamps and light fixtures throughout the 90,000 square foot facility, and replace them with compact florescent T8 wrap fixtures or retrofit them with new electronic ballasts. Torres Construction also replaced the building’s existing exterior high pressure sodium (HPS) light fixtures with energy efficient and brighter metal halide canopy fixtures. In-house crewmembers performed 100% of the work for this project, with in-house electricians running the conduit and pulling new wiring and grounding.

SUMMARY:
This project was performed throughout the normal administrative office and school hours, requiring that crew members perform their work while school staff and students were present. This meant our teams had to take extra precautions to work as quietly as possible, waiting until classrooms were unoccupied to work in them, while maintaining a zero incident and safe working environment at all times.
