The scope of work for this project was to completely renovate Dorsey High School’s auditorium and AV rooms. For the renovation, Torres Construction installed new theater style seats, a state-of-the-art sound system, new stage lights and a spotlight. Torres also performed extensive interior finish upgrades including the installation of new vinyl flooring and baseboards, wall sconces, wall covering, High Definition (HD) projector and motorized projection screen, projection booth for sound mixing equipment, patch and paint of ceiling as well as ceiling cleaning. Upgrades to the Auditorium Lobby included the installation of a school crest in the foyer, donor plaques, a display case, a reception desk, ceiling tiles, vinyl floor tiling, baseboards, and the painting of new doors and interior walls.

SUMMARY:
Dorsey High School was originally constructed in 1937, so our teams worked carefully to adhere to the buildings original design while performing the modernization. Because there are 2400 students at Dorsey, it was important that we keep a tight schedule in order to have the school open and ready for the students each and every morning. With numerous trades involved, the biggest challenge was to maneuver everyone’s schedule to accommodate an open and functioning school.
